[BUG not fixed] AAC Audio stops 5-30 sec before movie ends

Server Version#: 1.25.0.5246
Player Version#: 4.70.0

AAC Audio stops 5-30 sec before movie ends.
AC3 is OK.

Edit: still not fixed in

Nobody else has this bug!?

Server Version 1.25.1.5286
Plex Web Version 4.66.1

Same here (but also with AC3 audio)

I’ve started to get that a few days ago after I updated my docker container that hadn’t been updated in a couple months.

It also stops AC3 for me. More often it’s 5 seconds before the ends but sometimes it can be as much as 45 seconds. Very apparent when binge watching TV.

I’ve not been able to reproduce the issue with the windows player or my android player but I was able to reproduce it with my own instance of the web player version 1.25.2.5319.

I’ve also reproduced it with the app.plex.tv version of the player as of December 17th 2021.

Reverting back to plex 1.24.5 for now fixed the issue for me.

I just noticed the same, AAC & AC3 audio dropping just before the end of the video. To be fair, for a lot of content, those last few seconds are often skipped or meaningless, so it’s easy to miss.

Server: 1.25.2.5319
Player (Web): 4.72.0

Likewise, downgrade to 1.24.5.5173 reverted the behavior to expected.

Same here.
Server version : 1.25.2.5319
Plex Web version : 4.72.0
Audio stops 60 sec before the end for a 130 minutes movie with AC3.
Audio stops 25 sec before the end for a 24’ one.

Is there any way to contact the Plex team about this bug and get some feedback from them?
(I couldn’t find any way to report a bug on their website.)

yes i have this issue but not every time

For me it mostly happens in direct-play mode…
Plex Web 4.73.3

Problem still exist in PlexWeb 4.78.4 (chrome)

Player Apps (Windows/ Android) are not affected.

@bengeorge

Yup, also have this issue as well.

Plex team? Anything? Several months passed and not even a reply. I think I slowly had it with Plex. More and more bugs, no support, no fixes…

Subsequent server updates fixed it for me, though I couldn’t tell you exactly which one.

It’s a plex web problem, so server update will not help.

That’s not entirely accurate. It is a problem that occurs only on the web app, but multiple people have demonstrated that it is fixed with a server revert. That is strong evidence that it’s a server problem, particularly given that it is no longer occuring for people in the latest server.

Due to recently fixed bugs, downgrading is not an option

EDIT: nope 14sec before end audio cuts off…
Synology NAS DSM6 - PMS 1.26.1.5772
Windows 10 (21H2) - Chrome - PlexWeb 4.80.0

Buffering stops there:

I honestly don’t know what to tell you then. I’m on Win 10 (20H2, and Windows hates me for it), Chrome with web App v4.80.0, and WD PR4100, running 1.26.0.5715, and I don’t see the problem.

As evidenced above, did see it on Web 4.72.0, Server 1.25.2.5319. Downgrading at that time to 1.24.5.5173 definitely fixed it for me, so at least for me, it was a server issue. Multiple people had success with downgrading, but I couldn’t tell you how many are better again with newer versions, since it’s so rare for people to come back to report that.

So, I’m one data point. I was experiencing the same symptoms as you, it was definitely a server issue, and it does not reproduce on the latest server version available to me.

This issue is making me bonkers.
