Bug: Plexamp android auto play some music voice command doesn't work

The play some music voice command on android auto hasn’t worked for months for me. I say it, get confirmation from AA “okay, asking plexamp to play some music”, but no music starts or if I’m already playing a song it doesn’t change.

Plexamp version 4.6.3
Android auto 8.8.630424-release
Phone Samsung galaxy S23 ultra, this was also happening on my oneplus 7 pro

No one else has this same problem?

I jist tried this again and this time the currently playing track stopped and froze the play/next/previous buttons. I had to return to home screen and select another album. After that my music continued.

Would be nice to have a fix.

Bumping this again…

Hoping for a reply one day

Here is a log file from my plexamp. Tried a voice command “play some music” to google assistant around 11:24 or so at the end of the logs. Hopefully this would help and there would finally be an answer to this topic from plex employee…

Bumping again

Bump. Maybe one day this gets fixed

To be honest, I’m surprised this even works at all for you (i.e. Google actually recognises that you want to use Plexamp to play some music)! It’s never worked for me. Last year I tried “Okay Google, play X” and was told that I don’t have a subscription to YouTube Music. I tried again saying “Okay Google, play X using Plexamp” and Google Assistant said something along the lines of “Plex is not installed and cannot be installed while driving” (Plex is also installed on my phone, so that just confused me some more.)

I tried variations on this a few times last year and admittedly haven’t tried since, so perhaps it works now? Ultimately I just gave up and resorted to picking what I want to listen to in advance of getting into the car, or mostly just using “Library Radio” and skipping whatever I don’t want to hear at that time (which is not a great solution). I’d love to be able to be driving, hear a song and think “I want to listen to that album” and be able to instruct Google to play it for me.

Bumping. This is still broken…

@elan could someone please take a look at this?

Sorry, we’ve never had luck getting Google voice integration, they don’t make it easy.
