@leelynds no need to test - that is exactly what I found with the ones I have that say 6 channel and have an unknown layout - if you want I’ll grab a sample later on?
@WatchTowerPlex I’ll download your sample and have a look at how it looks on my system and will let you know shortly what I find

@Nik3sh I am a bit confused by your message sorry. Why are you using an ATV when the LG B6 has “now” a pretty good client? And I presume the ATV is connected via HDMI, and you have another HDMI connected to a home theatre system via ARC? On your TV is your sound set to pass through as “auto” or as “PCM”? Technically the B6 should be able to handle DTS HD unless you need to transcode it for your HT?

The question is why shouldn’t I use my ATV 4K? what’s so confusing about it? I want things to work! Why do you use one? Seriously What a mundane question to ask!

The LG B6 does not have a gigabit port so when playing high bit 4K videos it buffers. BtW I have a shield TV as well and everything direct plays or transcodes audio great on that, I hope you’re not going to ask me on why I don’t use that now. I’m just reporting on my ATV 4K issues.

Also I said 1080p MKV blu rays with DTS HD transcoding to eac3 when the ATV 4K surround setting is set to BEST Quality available, works! just not with 4K MKVS on my LG B6.

My ATV 4K is connected direct to the TV, I have no receiver, with LG B6 hdmi Sound set to AUTO.

You know ATV doesn’t support passthrough of DTS natively so of cause plex server needs to transcode to a suitable audio codec no matter how or what you hook your ATV 4K to, be it direct to the TV or if you have a receiver. The Infuse app on the otherhand can passthrough DTS and it works because their own app supports that codec.

Sorry If I sound annoyed but Plex has so many bugs on the ATV4K I shouldn’t have to resort to another Plex app because I have it, when I buy something I expect it to work or at least get some professional feedback.

My only guess is,for my TV, that there’s a problem with TVOS 11.3 beta. Just need a Plex employee to look at this, but haven’t heard anything.

@Nik3sh I suggest you make a post of your own for your issue. Your issue is different than the purpose of this thread. You may have better luck getting exposure that way. Try providing logs from your server, logs from your ATV, and a sample file that does not work.

Getting frustrated at people trying to help you seems a bit futile. Everyone wants things to work but no software is perfect. Yes, there are bugs. I have not experienced the same problem you have and I have DTS source audio and it successfully converts to eac3 and I can hear audio. My experience with the ATV has been a positive one. Sorry yours has not. There maybe something else that is going on or some other bug that you are hitting.

Yeah I can do thats no problem creating my own post so I won’t hinder your main subject, just though as it involved DTS with 4K MKVs it might have had some relevance, and a Plex employee might pick up on it. As you probably know I have discussed this in some other posts which was a general discussion on 4K MKVS without an employee replying or just totally ignores you like you see here and reply’s to someone else which they can give an answer to.

My frustration was with the person above was asking why am I using an Apple TV 4K when I have a B6, it’s like asking you why don’t you use your Samsung TV app instead of the ATV 4K, I’m not sure how that’s helpful, in my book that’s just rude. Do I honestly have to explain my self in an ATV thread why I’m using one.

Yep I understand. For me the answer would be simple… I prefer the apple tv 4k experience over my samsung tv application. My experience has been positive on the ATV.

I replied to your thread to see if you can provide a sample file so I can test and see if I see the same problem.

Well of cause that’s the answer lol, why would they buy one otherwise, it’s a silly question. I understand if they didn’t have one and I was recommended if you should buy one, but they have one.

I bet Plex test their ATV App on Samsung TVs.
Ok will leave this post now.

@Nik3sh I didn’t mean it the way you’ve read it at all… By way of trying to keep it short I wanted to know whether you’ve tried the LG app recently that’s all. The problem with the LGs is that there Ethernet port is only 100MBits. If you have 5ghz WiFi there are no problems playing 4K content. I’d want to try that to make sure it is definitely the ATV. If there are issues with the ATV that are known then that’s an issue that is separate from here. I have to say that I didn’t expect such an angry response… I’m just trying to help, and life with many other people who used to help and just get told everything is crap they will eventually leave. With your ATV are you sure it is not transcoding the video at the same time when you ask it to change the audio track causing your issues? I’ve noticed on my installation that Plex web shows direct play but it is transcoding in the background if the app asks for it.

Let’s just say it’s a misunderstanding.

Video plays perfectly (direct stream) theres just no sound (only video) happens only with DTS 4K MKV Movies when ATV 4K SURROUND audio settings are set to BEST QUALITY or DOLBY DIGITAL.

I have to set ATV4K ‘SURROUND’ audio settings to STEREO to receive sound when playing DTS 4K MKV Movies in Plex.

Everything else plays perfectly in Plex. TrueHD even transcodes to EAC3 with 4K MKV set to BEST QUALITY in ATV and I get sound from that.

Anyways I’m continuing post this topic in another post

Thanks for the help.

The bug re-mapping DTS center to the right channel is pretty annoying. Embarrassing when friends are over and the audio comes out only on one side and it’s like “nope, guess we can’t watch that.” Hope it gets fixed soon.

Any updates on this from the devs? Seems to be a relatively simple fix?

Fixed in 1.12.2, from release notes:
(Transcoder) Transcodes to AC3 in MP4 played with incorrect channel mapping on Apple devices (#8306)

And I will vouch, fixed in the videos I’ve tested.

Is that PMS 1.12.2? It says I’m up to date with 1.12.1.4885

So I’m running on server version 1.12.3.4973 And I’m still experiencing this issue. Anyone else?

I still have the issue. It only works on that special build. I am not sure if they have pushed the changes to beta or public.

Still having the issue on 1.12.3.4973, as well.

I am like 95% sure I ran a movie last night and center channel was correct. I was specifically checking all my speakers as I installed two new front left and right channels.

I just noticed this while watching Planet Earth II. I updated to the newest beta and restarted the apple TV with no improvement.

This is fixed as of 1.13.0.5003
