Hey all im building a plex server for my home. I want to know if all items would world fine for a plex server with probably 2 users on Max at one time “internal and external use”. Running at 1080p. I am Looking to save money and keep it low cost so under $300. Im mainly worried about the processor and motherboard if they will work good. “Suggestions welcomed” Tell me if im missing anything.
NOTE:
-I already own Hard Drives for it.
-I already own a network Adapter.
-Ram overkill because i got a good deal. $5 more and i went from 8Gig to 16Gig

your build is fine.
Plex is CPU dependent.
For two streams transcoded in 1080p, you need 4000 passmark.
You selected a CPU with 6000 passmark

I just put mine together to serve my family (max 3 concurrent streams). I used the Brix in my signature. I’ve been using it for more then a month and it has worked perfectly. I got a bundle deal for $130 that included 8 GB of RAM and 120 GB SSD. The Brix is running headless with Ubuntu 16.04 and I configured a 4 GB RAM disk as a scratch disk for transcoding. We stream a mix of 1080/720p video. The only minor issue with the Brix is that it doesn’t boot without a video source. However, put it on an UPS and you won’t really ever need to reboot (very rarely).
