I’m having multiple issues with the Amp (desktop) version of Caldera Music:
The visualizer doesn’t start. It says “Failed to create GL context.” It’s not until I change the flatpak’s permissions to disable GPU acceleration that it actually works (which obviously should not have to be done).
More importantly, it’s not connecting to Plexamp properly. When I run Plexamp on the same machine, the house icon shows up and properly displays the client in the list. I can adjust the volume, and the Caldera client detects the volume change as I can tell from the console output, but the playback does not come through Caldera. It only comes out through Plexamp no matter what I do. Additionally, when I try controlling it from a different Plexamp client on my network (my phone), the house icon does not show up at all, and so I have no control over the client.
Linux on the desktop is a very fickle thing. You haven’t provide any details at all about what Linux distro you’re running or your hardware, so the odds of getting help from someone versed in that ecosystem (not me) is near zero.
Caldera doesn’t connect to Plexamp, it’s vice versa. There are some fixes coming (and here, you haven’t indicated what version you’re running) for people running both on the same machine.
I’m using Kubuntu (an Ubuntu flavor with KDE) with an Nvidia GPU. What distro/hardware configuration is usually tested when you work on the Linux client?
I know. That’s just semantics, you got what I meant.
1.0.45
Also, any word on when this will be made available on Flathub? Having to manually update every time is a bit annoying.
If you need beta testers who have Nvidia graphics (which is not very common among Linux users), let me know and I’d be happy to lend a hand. I suspect Nvidia may be the issue here.
