Can my Plex server be a Gallery?

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Hello. I run a website that posts screencaps for a video game series. I used to upload my photos to Google but since the changes, Google is no longer a good option for this project. I’ve been looking to switch and Plex seemed like a good contender.

My question is - can I use Plex as a photo gallery to be accessed by anyone with a link? This gallery will have thousands of photos and lots of people will be accessing them. On doing a Google search, it seems you can only share your server via email but nothing outright confirmed it can’t be shared via a link, nor could I find anything confirming or denying the amount of people allowed to access your server. Can my server be shared via a link? I saw something mentioning a max amount of 99 people can access a server but another said 15…but both those numbers don’t work for me because I need unlimited access to my server. Is this something I am able to do? I also had planned to do this on a free plan. Would you advise I switch to a paid option? Would that be better for this type of project? As a note, I do not yet have a Plex server but am looking to buy the NVIDIA SHIELD when it goes on sale.

Plex doesn’t offer a feature to share the content of a library to a web page, gallery or other type of public website.

The restriction on how many people you can share with apply to different levels of sharing:

  • you can share to something like 100 users in total – this includes friends or members of your Plex Home
  • your Plex Home can have up to 15 members (incl. yourself as the admin)

Keep in mind… if this is about a commercial project, you should contact Plex anyway as their regular ToS / license only applies to non-commercial use.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Thank you for explaining that. It is appreciated.
