I have just tried moving all my podcasts over from iTunes using OPML.
All came over good. However two podcasts that I regularly listen to / watch in iTunes are showing as having no episodes in Plex Podcasts. The app recognises the URLs, but no episodes show up.
Both are video and audio podcasts. All my other podcasts are audio only, so I am wondering is Plex able to play video podcast files. The two podcasts are:
Anybody know if it’s being considered? With Apple starting to censor so many podcasts, I’m considering moving over, but I watch several video podcasts in addition to my audio-only ones (MacBreak Weekly and Security Now in particular).
I second this feature, would really like to see video podcasts added, as soon as they are Plex will become my only podcaster.
Currently using GroverPro on my PC to download my video podcasts, and then have Plex detecting that folder, setup so it sees them as TV shows. Works fairly well, but it does have episodes numbers off when doing it this way, it also has issues with a couple video podcasts where it won’t detect them unless I manually change the name.
I will say all TWIT podcasts work well with this method, except for the episode numbers being off.
When video podcasts are added can you make sure the ability to continue to play the audio after the device is locked works? If I am driving my phone is locked but being able to listen to a video podcast is useful. Whilst some video podcasts don’t make sense as audio only there are many that do and also some video podcasts don;t have an audio only version.
I’m hoping they add this feature soon. Until then, I am using JRiver Media Center to download the podcasts with the directory of these podcasts added to Plex as a library.
+1 This would be an important add on for Plex. I found it hard to believe that video pod casts were not present. I have been using Casts for a long time but the last casts update (Nov 2018) broke it for me and a lot of other people. I was surprised to see when looking for a new podcast app how few there were. I hope getting Plex out of the dark ages of audio only is high on the Plex priority list.
