Ability to change the DLNA server name would be most helpful. As I run multiple servers I cannot distinguish between the various servers from my smart TV’s.

The name follows what you set as the ‘friendly name’ of your plex server under
Settings - Server - General
The DLNA name does not… By the DLNA name I do mean the name your smart TV displays as the server name. However, your statement is true if you view the server friom your PC, but that has nothing to do with the DLNA name.

last time I used the DLNA server, it worked as stated by @OttoKerner
what friendly name have you set in your Plex Media Server settings?
Settings > Server > General > Friendly Name
could there be an issue with some special characters / symbols in your sever’s friendly name which might cause the tv set to revert to some default / generic name?
No special characters. just a space.
I’ve used PMS for some years and it has always been like this. The only name I get is “Plex Media Server” for all my servers from all of the my smart TVs. I had always assumed the DLNA name was hard coded into PMS. From my laptop I can see the media server as “Plex Media Server: LocalHostName”.

FYI: I just noticed this in the PMS setup.
Friendly name
This name will be used to identify this media server to other computers on your network. If you leave it blank, your computer’s name will be used instead.
Note: It states this name will be used to identify your PMS to other computers on your network. Hence this is a netbios name and not a DLNA name.

On my DLNA clients, I see all my local plex servers.
They are named like this:
Plex Media Server: [friendly name]
so I can distinguish them.
