I’m using an nvidia shield pro with an attached USB hdd. For live tv I am using an hdhomerun duo tuner connected to an antenna. All apps are up to date. When switching live channels on the Plex app, it takes at least 10 seconds to for the channel to change. When viewing live tv through the hdhomerun app, the channel changes very quickly almost instantly.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I do not like the hdhomerun app however the length of time required to flip through the available channels is unbearable
Unfortunately that sounds normal to me. Unless my configuration is slower than others. It took a little getting used to in our home after having very quick tuning in Windows Media Center from the same HDHomerun tuners. The speed also depends on the client. Are you watching live TV from the Shield or a different device? I believe the Android device app tunes channels the quickest. You could turn off transcoding and use direct play in the client to possibly speed it up a bit.
