So Netflix has released multi-user support and it made me think this might be a good way for Plex to handle multi-user support.
But the reason for creating this thread is to suggest allowing users to choose multiple people when sitting down to watch something.
Say I've got our main set up in the lounge, with a TV in my room and my flat mates watching on their iPad in their room.
The current setup for multi-users works great, but if we're all in the lounge watching a movie it only registers on theirs or mine, dependant on who is logged in.
It would be great if you could select from the context menu or something similar to watch as a group or watch as multiple users.
It would probably be awful to have it prompt you every time you watch something as it's more than likely the same people are watching at the same location, so that's why having it be an optional process could be good.
I agree, I also like the way Netflix handles it on the front end. Since I only have one HTPC with PHT on it I don't really want to make a new user on the HTPC with a separate install of PHT linked to a different user just to take advantage of multi-user. When Plex launches it should ask which user you are and you can choose your's or multiple users for group/family watching, and then it works normally. Maybe a hotkey and/or menu item "User(s)" to switch users while already in the app if say someone leaves with the app open and you want to switch back to your user.
That is still not halfway. It does not contain the proposed solution in any way. I changed the title to something very similar. Can we agree on this? :)
