There was a discussion on reddit about how transcoding was much better and faster when the temporary transcode was set to a RAM disk. The problem being that you would need the RAM disk to be the size of the movie being transcoded (plus every other simultaneous transcode), as the RAM disk will fill up and the transcode will fail without enough allocated. What if the transcoder cleared out the segments that were over 5 or 10 minutes viewing time behind the current position in the movie? That would allow RAM to be cleared up for for use
