I used to listen to my music library primarily via MPD, and now want to give Plex a try. My MPD server was controlled from the cli via MPC, or via ncmpcpp whenever I needed a more comprehensive way of browsing my library.

I am not looking for a ncurses based Plex solution, but I was wondering if there’s at least a way to control Plex Media Server from the command line?

I am looking for very basic functionalities like:

  • playback (play/pause/next/prev)
  • retrieve “now playing” info
