A compound search of genre and others search criteria would be helpful.
Example #1 - Need to find animation films that are ‘G’ rated for kids to watch without seeing adult rated stuff (>G) listed.
Example #2 - Need to find all films with actor, Mel Blanc, a ‘G’ rating, and lasting less than 20 minutes for kids to watch (Most likely a Cartoon - i.e. Bugs Bunny and the like). but again eliminating adult stuff & long films (i.e. Movies) from the search.
I’m a member of Lions International and our club uses Plex to play ‘G’ rated stuff when families are present and ‘>G’ rating when its just members. It would be great if I could take the compound search above then randomly play only what the search provided for kids & families or any other targeted audience.
Compound search-built construction of a Playlist and random play for a Playlist would also help my search/playback issue tremendously.
Use Advanced filters. Use the web app to see what is possible when using them.
If you are using a Plex client which doesn’t have advanced filters available, use the Web app to store the advanced filter as a smart collection.
Then use whatever Plex client type you regularly use to browse this collection instead of the full library.
Another possiblity would be to create a managed user for the use case “family with kids”. Then apply an appropriate age restriction to that user.
There is currently no filter for the length of a video.
I recommend using the “Sort By”: Playtime to cluster all videos of similar play length together.
