Confused about accounts

Hi there,

I’ve been using Plex for a long while, but never had a need to share with anyone. Looking through the various options for sharing, I’m a bit confused about “Home user”, “Guest” or “invited user”. What are the differences, and why would I want to use one instead of another?

Thanks!

Thanks OttoKerner.

So just to be sure that I completely understand: with a Home User account, I have to provide them with my admin credentials (username & password), so that they can sign-in using my account. They then enter a PIN (assuming that one was set) for their specific account, and that allows them to access the content that has been shared with them. The admin account is protected by a PIN that I’ve set, and is the only thing keeping a Home User from accessing the Admin account?

That is correct. This is the reason why you should only use managed users for people living in your household with you.
For all other users, the ‘friend’ sharing is the way to go.

You assume that I trust the people in my family!
