The option to control this is ABSOLUTELY a must. Ridiculous that it stops on it’s own.
People (me included) want continuous auto-play, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t have it because a few people complained that they fell asleep and used up all their data. Sounds like they should take responsibility for their own mistake.
The solution to the problem is easy. Have the option to turn auto play on or off, and have a warning about data usage turning it on when using it remotely.
Most mobile devices today have Data usage meters and limiters that warn when approaching the preset cap and turn off data completely when reaching it. I know Windows 10 also has such a feature too. As does every other modern OS I’m sure.
You removed the feature and won’t put it back to protect the few, who are too irresponsible to use the features they already had at their disposal, from themselves to the detriment of the many.
I literally fire up Emby to put on Parks & Rec for the dog when I leave the house so I know it won’t stop playing 2 hours after I leave the house…
Sad that it has to be that way. I don’t think Plex will ever add this feature back.
I cannot stress how important this feature is to my use case.
Adding my vote. In fact, there is a whole bunch of issues I have with how music videos are implemented to add to this.
Come on! Childish schoolyard arguments, I am an Adult & I want to control all of my content, I want choices and options. This is NOT why I became a fan of PLEX. Please give us back options
Plex…Please… People are leaving because you took away their options & choices, they are going to your competitors … do something or lose your supporters
++++++ Please please i don’t want to go back to emby or the other 4 new options coming out. I prefer plex for a reason its very easy for my elder family members but i could teach them to use another option and i pay for plex pass every month could buy life time but i prefer to continue to support.
EDIT::
just wanted to add it cant be a bandwitdh option i have a 2nd server running only plex because my raspberry pi won’t hardware encode i would love that feature but this one is way more important
Count me in, we need this option ASAP.
Have you tested with a chromecast? I try to play a Playlist to the chromecast and it stops after a few hours every time.
I’ve tried just playing a season and it stops too.
I have a grandmother with Dementia and want to keep shows she enjoys playing on her TV. This is getting very frustrating.
@elan @anon18523487 confirmed a Playlist stops playing at 2 hours when cast to a chromecast. You’ve been lying to people that a playlist skips the auto play restriction
+1
Give me the option per client and globally to enable continuous playback. Bypassing the 3 hour limit.
I don’t understand how this is even still being debated. Why is this difficult?
Exact same use case here. Please give us the feature already. It’s been three years since this topic was created, and probably many more topics on the exact same subject came before it.
Dear Plex Employee…I was testing this on my Vizio smartcast Plex app…I also have a Roku Ultra. I must have gotten confused because I thought I remembered the repeat all working on the Vizio smartcast app, but I was wrong. Starting an episode, clicking repeat all…what happens is (even though repeat all is enabled) when an episode is over it pops back to the countdown screen and plays the next episode. On Roku, when repeat all is selected, that whole countdown is completely bypassed…so it’s as if the repeat function on other players (aside from Roku) even though this function is there and enabled, it’s not working… something is wrong. The only workaround is to create a playlist.
What version is that Vizio app?
5.25.2
Well its been 15 months since you told me you guys were looking at adding an option to turn off “pass out protection” and nothing so far. This was previously a feature of plex that it would continue to play forever unless you manually stopped it. You guys added the feature to stop playback after a while. I dont see why its taking this long to get back to something that has been a part of plex longer than it hasnt been a part of plex. This issue affects me every day. Over 500+ days of being reminded that the Plex developers think they know how best when it comes to how I should watch my own media. 500+ days of being told I cant watch my media the way I want to.
500+ days of waiting for this issue to get fixed.
Can we get an update?
Even if I do pass out (it has been to known to happen from time to time when I get tired), I do not want it to stop.
I’ve been a Plex user for many years and the biggest thing I have learned is that the Plex staff don’t listern to their customers and don’t have any plans to start soon…
How many features have 1000’s of votes/customers support yet after years they are still not sorted. I’ve found the best option is to locate the ‘hacks’ posted by other users on this forum or other sites (google search) to make changes to Plex as waiting for the Plex staff to do anything is like waiting for Christmas on Boxing Day… lol They are far too busy adding features no-one wants, needs or uses, since when did Plex become a DVR system, I thought it was a media system…
