Add me as another user who wants the ability to have continuous autoplay. I’m honestly surprised this doesn’t already exist in such a robust application. There are a ton of things I find absolutely annoying with Plex, but right now this is at the top of the list.
Add me. Lifetime member. Autoplay all night for my wife to be able to sleep, and save bandwidth is 90% of my reason for building Plex out. PLEASE address this
I agree; this feature should be default ON for LAN and apply the 2 hour thing, or whatever, to WAN connections with the ability to enable/disable it for either if you so choose.
mark me down as one more plex lifetime user that would like this feature.
I’m not understanding. At least on my Plex via Roku, on the OSD, when you start an episode, you just click loop 1 or loop all (loop all) will continue playing indefinitely. But I have no experience with Plex using anything other than Roku. I’m one of those people who uses this ALL THE TIME. I have several of my favorite shows that I sleep while they are playing (even though I’ve seen them all) if it stops, it wakes me up. I can’t sleep with dead silence
Same here for me and my wife… no tv show = No sleep. On android, you click look and it still stops
glad you have a roku
+6 here (my family counts!)
Definitely want this feature, please.
Count me in as well. I want this feature too.
Here we are in 2021 and this STILL isn’t implemented?
Guys, do you need more programmers or something? I only know a little C but I can probably learn how to do it within the decade. Seems like that’s a perfectly acceptable timeline by the looks of it.
Aside from the completely warranted snark, I felt like this topic needed a bump.
Hi I have a 2 year old child that watches TV shows on a IPad and the show stopping after every 3 episodes upsetting to them and me now as I have to keep unlocking the IPad and click play to then lock it again. Please for the love of GOD put a dam setting in the admin area where you can turn this sleep mode on and off.
if people where going to sleep and missing there tv shows that’s there dam fault not Plex’s issue.
Thanks
Until this new feature is available, you can prevent this by enabling “repeat all” during playback.
Enabling ‘repeat all’ does not work. After an hour and half the user has to interact with the plex client otherwise it stops playing. Again your interaction with this thread is not helpful.
It should work. With repeat enabled, there should be no timeouts. That’s the intent.
If this isn’t working, then something else is going on. There may be a bug I haven’t seen.
Edit - If this is a bug, no one has provided me any details to track this down. It is working for me in the client’s I’ve tested.
Android and MI Box clients won’t play all by clicking loop. On roku apparently clicking loop, does this but all my android devices won’t play All!
Another long time Plex user/admin and pass holder… Finally fed up and just up voting this.
The “pass out” protection and the delay between episodes(now 20 seconds, ugh) are the worst features in Plex.
Please allow these to be server or client side configurable. I could care less where just as long as it’s an option.
Reproduction Steps:
- From Home select a TV Library
- Select a series with multiple episodes
- Play the series on Shuffle from the drop down or long pressing the series and selecting shuffle
- Wait an hour an a half note the results
Expected result:
Playback of series plays until the user stops playback.
Results:
Playback of series stops after an hour an half unless there is user interaction.
Is that Android or iOS?
Edit - I’m trying these steps right now on Android. I don’t have an iOS device. If that’s what you are using, I’ll have to get someone else to try to reproduce.
Seriously, why on earth isn’t there an option to turn this behavior off and keep playback longer than 1.5 hours? Have the devs ever given any feedback on this issue? It should be a flat-out simple change to the code. I see this behavior with the Plex app on both LG televisions and the Amazon fire stick.
They’re busy trying to save their company by making new services such as Plex Arcade with Atari. This is because they are not making money off of lifetime license holders. Plex’s management does not care about their user base unless it making the company money, which is a smart business decision. This will never be addressed because they no longer make software, they only provide a service.
