Current state plex for Ubuntu / Linux

Hi,

I’m really eager to drop OSX 10.8 as OS, and making Ubuntu my default OS for my media center on my Mac mini.

The problem is i really cant live without Plex Media Center. I’ve seen some topics about PMC for Ubuntu but can anyone tell me if playing media (720/1080 etc) goes smoothly ?

Or is PMC for Linux not really a go now ?

Thank you.

The code is out there on git and it works on some versions of Ubuntu. Work has pretty much eaten my life lately, and I haven't had a chance to update the code or even try to build it on 12.04 recently. The code that's there builds on several versions, including 10.10 and works very well there, but there aren't any binary packages.

I can report success building it on 12.04 and 12.10, and it does run well. Hoping somebody with enough chops helps out on this, as having a stable in-the-repos PMC build would be a huge boon for the platform as a whole. We all certainly understand that life takes precedence. Thanks for all you've given to the community so far!

I’m running Plex on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. I’m using the Plex Repo:

deb http://www.plexapp.com/repo lucid main<br />

This works fine for me. I've never had any major issues with this code. I'm currently running Version 0.9.9.2.

BTW: Plays 720/1080 very well on this version.

Can you help me with a tutorial ? I have a basic knowledge of Ubuntu. Does it also work with 12.10 ?
