I currently run PMS on partition of a really fast 1tb NVME SK Hynix drive on a 64gb RAM Dell Vostro desktop with an Intel I7 10700 running Windows 10 Pro. This box has a 460w power supply and 4 unused SATA slots (2 pcie x1, 1pcie x16 and 1 pci-32). My media files are stored on 4 shucked 10 and 14 tb WD drives installed as JBOD disks in a QNAP TR-004 DAS which is attached via USB3. I record all my media myself using Channels DVR and Playon (in a 32bit Win10 virtualbox guest), and edit as necessary with AVIdemux and MCEBuddy. I use the onboard UHD 630 graphics with hardware encoding and transcoding. I’m really happy with my setup.
I’m going to need more media storage in the next year. I would love to utilize the empty pci slots to connect to an eternal multiple HDD box of some sort rather than attach another USB3 DAS box. I not sure how best to connect the external storage to my computer and what type of connectors and power, etc. would be good for the box.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
