Database Limitations

Second thing to consider:
Observing the recommendation to put every movie into its own subfolder,
Particularly if there are local assets in use.

Or disable Local Media Assets, which then disables external subtitles, local posters, local extras etc.

I would love to put the Plex Data Folder on an SSD drive, but unfortunately the Dell R310 has a SAS array and I cannot do that. Even if I could install a secondary sata controller, there is no space in that machine to mount an SSD drive. It is a 1U rack mount server.

As for putting every movie in its own subfolder spanned over multiple drives? how would this decrease the lag time for the remote devices pulling up listed items in the menu?

Pull the optical drive and put your SSD drive in that location. It’s not a hard mod at all.

To get a rough idea check this video out.

You could also pickup a 2.5" SSD and put it in a USB3 enclosure and use it that way as well. The SSD does not need to be your “drive c”. Plex will allow you to put the meta-data on any drive you wish.

Now I don’t understand.
The reasoning is explained in the linked post. It does work.
