De-interlace for 1080i content?

Reanalyzing didn’t help, so here’s i sample file where i tried to record the last 2 minutes of a show:

This sample scans as interlaced for me; there may be an analysis issue that’s specific to your OS or configuration. Could you post a scanner log showing the analysis attempt?

Sure, i attached a log where i analyze that file.

Just a +1 - I’m having the same issue too.

Along this topic - is deinterlacing only neccessary when transcoding to 720p? If I am just taking a 1080i file and watching it, do I need to deinterlace?

I’m having the same issue. Most of my HD stations are 1080i, but my PMS (on Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit) recognizes them as 1080p. Reanalyzing the recordings doesn’t help as they still are registered at 1080p.

Are you direct streaming? Then it will come down to whether the client you’re using actually supports deinterlacing. It’s been awhile since I tested that, but I think that’s still hit-or-miss.

I don’t think it ever transcodes to 1080i, but I’m not sure about that.

I’m still having the same issue among with the others.

“Plex Media Scanner.log” and “19456.xml” is attached

Do you need still data for pin pointing the problem?

Just adding my voice to this.

Beta 3 is still incorrectly identifying 1080i recordings as 1080p.

If you need any samples etc from my setup, just let me know and I’ll provide some.

definitely still an issue here as well (Beta 3)

Yeah… it’s pretty awful looking, I’ve been nice to the wife by not pointing it out… because once you see it, its kinda grating.

This really can’t be that difficult. Silicon Dust’s DVR is identifying interlaced content correctly which forces my shieldtv and note 7 to de-interlace client side. Since plex’s media transcoder is built on ffmpeg, I have to believe this is a simple media analysis post recording.

I’m having the same interlacing issue.

Was this issue ever addressed? I still find watching live/recorded tv from my HDHomerun to be frustrating in Plex because of the obvious combing/interlacing artifacts.

Ideally, I would like to be able to identify interlaced content from any source and automatically decomb during playback.

Same, looks terrible on Fire TV (Gen 2) and I can’t afford to buy a shield for every tv (plus the shield is still lacking several UK catchup apps that means you need another box as well).

Any update on live tv de-interlacing ever becoming a reality?

I am having the same issue.
