I would prefer if you could choose a language for each tv series etc. If no choice is made use the default section language!

I could live with that too. Really, I just want to be able to set some stuff to English audio with no subtitles and some stuff to Japanese audio with subtitles. Most importantly, I'd like to be able to do this without having to do it on an episode by episode basis.

AVI containers have no support for audio track language tags. It should be a hierarchy, i think:

Per series> Per section> Global.
