My suggestion is to disable the L2 and R2 buttons on controller during playing any movie/tv show. Controller is usually not in hand during playing anything, and putting it down on a not flat surface (like couch) results in a 50/50 chance of forwarding/rewinding 10minutes in the episode. Lot of times someone simply sitting down on the couch (next to the controller) triggers this. Super frustrating to get back to where the playback was before, and could be easily solved by changing the L2 and R2 buttons to L3 and R3 or anywhere else. Just make L2 and R2 unassigned to any functions.
not what you are looking for, but seriously invest in a media remote for your console.
I constantly have this problem with L2 and R2 on the PS4 app. I am always getting accidental rewind and fast forward with these buttons. The also act in such a severe way, just a little tap can skip halfway through the episode. These buttons shouldn’t do anything, or at least there should be a way to disable this unwanted function.
Agreed - I have never used the triggers to jump chapters etc, but accidentally hit them all the time when they are laying around/on my bed etc.
Solutions:
- Add an option to disable the functionality
- Reduce the sensitivity of the triggers so they have to be completely depressed to trigger, not when is is lightly tapped
I use Plex Media Server on my PS5, and one thing that has been a frequent frustration is that the sensitivity of the R2/L2 analog triggers is very high. Even if the controller is lying next to me on the couch, if I move it is often enough to accidentally depress the trigger to cause it to suddenly jump far forwards or backwards, and then I have to spent time getting back to where I was.
It seems that the software may be treating these triggers as simple buttons, but they’re analog triggers with multiple levels of input. So any input at all is interpreted as a press.
I propose increasing the response threshold to at least half a press, so that you’re certain the user actually wants to make such a large jump.
