Do I have to delete everything and start over? Please help me

Hi, I have lost all of my Music library and any movie or TV show I put in my library will not play (it shows a error code: s1001 (network). It all started a few weeks ago when Windows did an automatic update, when I reloaded Plex it could not find my library server at all. I finally downloaded the latest version of the server (ver 1.41.0.8992) and was able to see it again. Then I uploaded a song and lost all of my music. It’s all still on the external drive but Plex will not recognize any of it. Then I noticed that all of the movies and TV shows I have uploaded in the past few weeks can be seen by plex , but will not play, they get that error S1001 (Network). I tried re-encoding the movie and it still will not play on my computer (from plex) or on my TV over the internet. I can play them on the computer apart from plex, so they do work. But Plex will not play them. I am attaching a copy of the log in hopes someone will tell me what is wrong. I do not want to delete everything and start over, I have 844 movies and over 77 TV shows, not to mention all my music that now can’t be seen.

Please help me someone. Do I have to delete everything and start over. If so how?

Is there a way to get a list of my TV shows and Movies from the Plex server, if I have to delete everything and start over.

If I have to, how do I clear everything and start over?

If Plex is having a problem playing your files, deleting all of the files is almost certainly not part of the solution.

It gave you a hint – a network error. You may have a poor connection between the server and the client.

If you can describe EXACTLY how your server and client are set up we can give you more help.

I’m sorry, I don’t know what your asking. I only know I downloaded the Plex server and it installed. All of my other 844 movies and TV shows work great, only the ones I have put on my external drives in the past few weeks. They get this error. Plex will show it is there but will not play it. Also, as I mentioned, I lost all of my music. It is all still on my external drive but Plex won’t let me access any of it anymore.

That makes two of us, because I don’t understand how deleting your library will solve your playback problems. This is also the first time you have mentioned external drives.

If Plex is losing track of media that is stored on external drives, that can happen if the drives go to sleep and don’t spin back up fast enough when Plex tries to access them. Network problems or anything else that keeps Plex from seeing files will cause all kinds of problems.

If Plex is set to empty the trash automatically, that will also make it look like temporarily unavailable files have disappeared from your library. I would definitely turn that option off.

I think I fixed it. Not really sure exactly how. But when you mentioned the Plex server I went back and found a site to download the latest Plex server for windows 64 bit. At https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=computer&plat=windows. When I installed it, it fixed all my problems. I think that when windows did an automatic update that it somehow messed up the plex server.

Anyway, thank you for your help. I am new to all of this.

Glad you got it working!

I would seriously consider using a utility from Chuckpa on a regular basis
