Do not share my watch history

Agreed, but I needed a real username from a plex FTE admitting that sharing of data is indeed opt-out, not some nebulous shared account.

We all know that post needs to be rewritten to be a max of 3 bullets, but even getting a plex FTE to understand that this sharing of watch history is a safety issue (especially from being founded in the bay area) is the most troubling.

Sorry to harp on, but I still don’t get it… are these settings going to continue to be set on by default when a new account is created. If they are then this is still a problem (at least as far as GDPR is concerned), as you are not asked for consent when creating a new account.

I am not a lawyer so I am not going to comment on what GDPR laws are.

But I have been trying to confirm things so I can reply to folks since this feedback. That post was created by others while I was trying to confirm and is correct

The only button available for a user to bypass this screen/modal is that Finish button. Therefore, in order to make sure that the settings remain defaulted to private is for that user to manually change those options to private before selecting that button to move on. If there were a Skip button or the like next to the Finish button, that would be a different story.

Once the user enters this screen, the choices are defaulted to Opt-In to those settings. There is no way to bypass the screen and keep their original settings without a user being forced to manually Opt-Out by updating those fields to Private.

Plex, nobody has asked for these features. Stop spending cycles working on things that drive people away. Go make the DVR better or something.

You are exactly right. But plex will keep posting that explanation, with its fingers in its ears, going “we did nothing wrong” while pissing off the user base and ignoring actual customer sentiment.

Honestly wonder at this point if the actual point was to get plex pass lifetime members (users that now cost money not generate revenue) to voluntarily quit.

You can try to confirm all you want, that this function hasn’t been pulled is jaw dropping.

How many think Plex is going to double down and continue to become “social media platform”?

Joke aside, this is a disgrace to all who have bought any Plex Pass in the past and just shows the ignorance toward the community.

Forget sharing it or not. STOP TRACKING IT AT ALL like your own Privacy Policy says you don’t.
