I switch to a docker container in a ugreen nas. I uninstalled the old media server from the PC and also removed it in the Plex app. The container is in host mode, and I made sure port forwarding to 32400 was configured in the router using the NAS’s IP address. When I look in the remote access setting in the Plex app it shows “not available outside your network.” If you hit retry it says connected then goes back to not available. I do not have a double nat and i have a Plex Pass subscription. Any ideas?
From what did you switch? And was it a migration (did you try to keep your existing Plex data?) or is this a fresh installation?
It could be relevant.
What does https://canyouseeme.org/ say for your port?
If it says success, can you reach your server directly via http://<public-ip>:32400/web off your network?
If so, stop plex, go to the Cache directory in the plex media server folder. Is there a certificate.p12 file? If so, rename it certificate.p12.old and start plex back up. It should download cert-v2.p12.
See if that keeps the connection green and apps connect.
Yeah, that’s why was curious if it was an attempted migration. If migrated (from a working installation) the cert should be fine.
When I go to canyuoseeme.org it says the port is open. The installation I did was a fresh container install. I also uninstalled the media server from the old PC. rather new to containers any idea how to access the cache?
Have you tried @veeejay’s suggestion? Regarding the certificate.p12 file?
yes can reach it with my public ip address
You have to navigate to where you mapped the plex container, not sure how you set it up in your environment.
..../config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache
i found the file and it worked! thank you so much. Now I just gotta figure out how to get emby to work remotely ![]()
