I haven’t completed my set up yet but I just had a general question about the DVR section. Currently I have Plex set up and running on an Synology nas, however I’m getting ready to add in a dedicated pc to handle Plex and use my NAS for the video storage. My question is, can I have live OTA tv record to the PC, then remove the commercials in post processing, and finally move the recording to the nas, or will it move everything to the nas, come back and transcode, then transfer back? I’m trying to mitigate the network traffic.
Depends on how you set it up. If on the PC you specify a NAS folder for recording then all recording activities will occur on the NAS drive. I personally would recommend you recording locally then in whatever post processing you do move the recording to the NAS.
