Download not deleting old episodes from device

I’m using Download to keep a show on my phone for offline watching.

I set the download up from the show item (not from a season item, or a specific episode). When setting it up, I used the option:
Download: Next 3 unplayed episodes

Despite this, when new episodes are downloaded, the ones one are not removed.

As a result, I end up downloading the entire season over time onto my phone, rather than the episodes being removed from my phone once they are played.

Have you tried with the “Deleted downloaded episodes - after a day?” option?

Would that not delete the episode even if I have not yet watched it?
