Download transcoding filling up transcode drive

This probably isn’t so much of a ‘bug’, but can we somehow make ‘Downloads’ while transcoding, work somewhat like regular transcoding? That is, let it transcode in chunks and perhaps assemble the final file in a different directory, rather than assembling the entire transcoded download in the transcode directory?

I’m using a 16GB RAM disk for my transcoding directory. Something that I thought was overkill, and was planning on reducing that until today when transcoding 2 4K movies down to 1080p-Medium filled up my RAM disk and broke other users that were transcoding. (I’m using a 1080t with modified drivers for transcoding - everything would have been fine if somehow the download conversions didn’t fill up the transcode disk…)

I’m also ok with having a separate transcode directory just for downloads? I don’t care about the speed, I just don’t want to impact current (non-download) transcode sessions for my users…

Update: Even when you set Download Quality to Original, it still ends up running through the Transcode process. And if you have a RAM disk for your transcode directory, it will fill it up… Can we acknowledge this issue and perhaps flag it as a bug? If this must happen, can we introduce a non-interactive transcode directory that’s different from the primary? To allow for non-ram disk transcode directories?
