If you stick to the “old” beta - it would only delay finding this new problem and getting it fixed.
I suggest you run with the latest version and get me diagnostics for the crashes - debug server logs and crash dumps - if you disable crash reporting there would be better chance of securing a copy of the crash dump as it would be left in the Crash Reporting directory and you can copy it out and zip it and send it to me by Private Message to go with the debug server logs for the crash
I also suffer from regular crashes; 204 times and counting, since updating to DSM7. I have attached some logs. If someone could pinpoint the cause it is much appreciated.
Just saw your message. I’ve been able to source b3abb84f-52e6-429c-1ca9fea0-a7bdf605 as requested and attached here: b3abb84f-52e6-429c-1ca9fea0-a7bdf605.zip (240.4 KB)
Having the same issue with crashes on my Synology NAS. Log on says PMS stopped due to system running out of memory. I am running PMS 1.25.3.5409 on DSM 7 7.01-42218 Update 2… I did add the memory usage line yesterday so hopefully that helps. As a side note, I never got a PMS crash until upgrading to this version of PMS.
You are right - there is no crash. Logs show some abnormal very high number of streams for a media item.
Could you download the database (through Troubleshooting / Download database ) and send me the zip via private message - you may need to upload the zip to Dropbox / Google Drive etc and send me a link
Thanks for looking. Not sure how it is showing streams when there wasn’t any streaming at the time of the crashes. Anyway, I do not have the database anymore. I decided to uninstall and reinstall Plex wiping the database and starting with a fresh database. There was something wrong with the database as I deleted 3 movies from the movie folder, but they still showed in Plex. My database was showing 6.8TB and not going down after spending the weekend manually optimizing. My database is currently rebuilding. I will let you know if I have issues from this point. Appreciate the look.
It was tons of log lines and not possible to see what triggered it as the oldest log entry does not go to before this long sequence
It may have been background activity / scheduled task activity
And may be it was not all for one media file - if issue persists, will need fresh debug logs and download of the database - might be an idea to increase log files by adding LogNumFiles to Preferences.xml and restarting Plex Media Server - see Advanced Server Settings article Advanced, Hidden Server Settings | Plex Support
The timestamps in the Plex Media Server log files are all local to the server
Thanks for the dump for the crash at Jan 17, 2022 03:42:58 when running Plex Media Server 1.25.3.5409
There have been several releases since and appears you are now running on 1.25.6.5577
Are you still getting crashes ? Would like to see more examples to see if there is some commonality - so please get me logs zip after a crash and also look for files with modified date / time close to the crash time and file name is similar syntax to the one you found for the 17th Jan - in /var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer/AppData/tmp/
and if the server is still crashing - please also get me zip of the database which you can download through Plex Web SettingsTroubleshooting
Please upload on dropbox / google drive etc and send me a link by Private Message
Thanks @sa2000 the crashes don’t appear to be occurring anymore. Looks like it was resolved in one of the recent updates. Was the issue associated with Sonic Analysis?
