Simple issue - easy to replicate. If I have an album in my music library, and I spot a misspelling in say, the song title, I know it has replicated the error to the filename. My naming convention for MP3 files is this:
TrackNumber - Artist - SongTitle.mp3
So, I go in to my handy-dandy MP3Tag application, fix the Title in the metadata and rename the file to fully correct it. This is outside of Plex. I then go into Plex and “Scan Library Files” as this has been the only historic means of re-discovering a file with a new filename. I’m pretty sure it used to work correctly before, but today when I do this Plex creates and all new entry for the same album with the renamed track, alongside my old album entry now missing the track I renamed. The album now appears twice - both pointing at the same album folder.
Secondly, I am also dealing with the occasional album covers disappearing and now missing song titles all throughout my music library. Y’all gotta start fixing this stuff before people leave your platform. At a bare minimum - give your customers who have thoroughly tagged their MP3s a means of avoiding your entire “Agent” system. I would be better off today with a dumb DLNA server with respect to my Music library. I don’t need the album matching and the pretty pictures of the bands. I just need Plex to start working right.
