Hi all. New setup here, trying to troubleshoot. Media that I have added manually to the library plays fine. Recording from OTA (hdhomerun) is a problem though. The program will show up in the main screen but when I go to play it, I’ll get a message that the connection to the server was lost. When I go to the local machine and browse, the folder and file are there but when I try to play the file it says it’s corrupt or not supported.
I’m sure I’m just missing something here, any help is appreciated!
It’s the 2 tuner current homerun, not sure of the model without digging out the box. Playing through either Plex or the native app works perfect, no drops or anything, it’s just recordings in the TV folder in my desktop, stuff in the Movies folder plays just fine. Running on a firestick for the player and an older desktop for the server.
Can you try creating a new folder on your desktop, then create a new TV Show library in Plex pointing to the new folder, and finally try recording to this new library?
So I tried a new directory on the PC. It starts to record for a few seconds and then stops. Seems to be doing the same thing as before. But just watching works fine.
Need a set of logs to confirm, but most likely a permissions problem.
https://app.plex.tv/web Settings> General (advanced)
Check Plex Media Server debug logging
Uncheck Plex Media Server verbose logging
Restart the server and recreate the problem, wait a minute after it fails to allow error to get to the logs then download them for upload here.

When you schedule a recording, it writes to .grab folder underneath your TV/Movie Library path. Needs read, write, execute.
When you do a live tv session it creates the Session folder in the location specified for transcoder, if the location is blank it creates it under Plex’s Library location.
It is creating the .grab files but then having an issue going back to read them.

So to eliminate a few possibilities:
You are logged in with the user used to install Plex and this is not running as a service?
Side problem, do you have an Orbi in router mode plugged into your lan? Some weirdness there getting double NAT.
Correct. Logged in as the only user on the PC (fresh install of Win10 on an older AMD desktop). Running in the tray. Even did a full reinstall of Plex tonight (deleted localdata and reg key too) and same result.
Media is on a freshly formatted 2TB drive, SSD drive is C:\ I’m going to do a test here in a few and change the library to the c:\ and see if that yields any different results.
Yes, I do have an Orbi.
Sooo…As a test, thinking that it was a problem with the computer itself, I stopped the server on my desktop and installed it on my laptop. Same, exact problem. Going to try to reboot the modem, router, HDhomerun, etc. when I can. At least I know it’s not the computer.
SOLVED!! It was so easy, I couldn’t believe it. I’m going to create a new thread because I know several people are having this issue but Windows 10 has a Media Streaming option (just search it in the search bar). I enabled it and it’s working perfectly now!
