DVR Skip on Roku

I am a new cord cutter from DirectV. The feature I miss the most is in the DVR playback during time-shift (record and play at the same time) operation. The skip commercial is not yet available so, the natural thing to want is to be able to skip ahead 30 seconds with an option of skipping back 10 seconds during playback. That would allow me to skip commercials before the commercial detection occurs.

Currently, the skip ahead and backward is 10 seconds and the user has to start the playback after the skip complete. Not very user friendly.

The desired behavior would be to skip ahead 30 seconds and restart the playback automatically. Same sort with the 10 second skip back then restart the playback automatically.

This behavior is common on most DVRs including the HDHomerun app, DirecTV remote and Dish remote for example. Why not the Roku?

There’s already an existing suggestion to allow users to customize the skip forward/backward duration within the various Plex apps. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

I am okay with your suggestion. The only thing I can think of is that the Roku app seems to be behind all of the other playback user interfaces. The feature I want is not as extensive as the thread you pointed out.

Maybe, all they need to so at Plex do is upload a new release for the Roku.
