I like to record investigative news shows, like Dateline. I have a timer
set to record all episodes, new and repeat. One of my local
TV stations broadcasts 2 or 3 old episodes every day, so if I look at
my upcoming recordings, I will find 20-30 episodes of Dateline.
I like to read the descriptions of the upcoming episodes. When I
do that, I know that there will be a few episodes on some topics that
I’m just not interested in viewing. I would like a way to click on that
individual episode, click on modify recordings, and then have an option to say
“skip recording this particular episode only”. Right now, there’s no way
to tell the DVR to skip 1 or 2 episodes out of 20. You can modify/cancel
recording of all episodes, but not just individual ones. Or you could
cancel recording the series and set up individual timers for 18 or 19
episodes, which I’m just too lazy to do. So for now, I just let the episodes
record and then delete them without viewing. I’d rather stop the episode from recording at all. I don’t have kids at home, but I’d imagine some families with
kids could find this useful as well.
