Hello,
I’m trying to setup an HTPC with a Plex(Pass) media server. I’m switching from a Windows 10 server over to Linux (tired of the forced upgrades, privacy issues, etc). I used to use Linux as my daily driver for several years but that was many years ago now.
I’ve tried Manjaro XFCE thus far but I cannot even get Plex server to start. It enables perfectly but runs into all sorts of issues and never actually starts. Seems to be a permission issue but I cannot find easy enough instructions to sort it out. I can’t deal with every little thing taking forever to do and am thinking perhaps, I just need another distro.
Would love recommendations for easy to setup distro for Plex server. I really want a rolling release (vs fixed), which is why Manjaro seemed perfect (holding back packages a week from Arch for stability). But since Arch is for Linux gods, it’s harder to find basic info when needed. I hate to switch up now as it took me about 11 hours to install Manjaro and I finally have it booting reliably. But I can’t deal with every little thing being so difficult.
Any good rolling release distros that actually “just work” for Plex? Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!
(Just a few that I know of would be Sabayon, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed (difficult with codecs, apparently), Debian Unstable (which is a little scary sounding), Solus (which I hear has much less packages in repository and it’s own niche package type) but I’m hoping there might be others).Server
