I started getting the Transcoder Crashing errors on my Samsung TV which accesses my TV shows and movies via my LAN on a Windows 10 64bit computer…Never had the issues and all of a sudden since the recent PMS update this has been happening…Any help please???
On versions from 1.13.8.5395 no recordings are made so no new preview thumbs to generate.
I can provide you with a whole bunch of files to try. As I said before its the DVR files made from Hauppauge dual HD USB TV tuner that causes the problem.
I can provide you with a download link to a zip file. Shall I DM you the link?
Ive re-enabled the error GUI on v1.14.0.5470. Since no new recordings will be made (because Live TV & DVR broken) I dumped a load of old recording files back into Plex and the errors returned in full relentlessness. I will let a few accumulate so youve got plently of logs to look at… Literally every minute or so the error windows is appearing.
For reference the error GUI setting I used was done with GPEdit -> Computer Settings -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Error Reporting -> “Prevent Display of the user interface for critical errors”.
I will continue to monitor and see if this is a recurring incident or not. If it is recurring then I will create a separate post. I also wanted to see if this was related to my drive that house TV Shows because it didn’t seem to appear when I was watching movies on another drive…
How big is this file E:\Videos\Recorded TV\MacGyver (1985)\Season 06\MacGyver (1985) - S06E08 - MacGyver's Women.ts ?
The transcoder crashed when it got to 37% down the file. So if we have a sample to reproduce the issue - it would need to split at about 40% position.
The transcoder was running mpeg2video_decoder.dll at the time the dmp was produced
could you get me list of this directory showing the filenames, dates, times,. sizes C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Codecs\531e313-1328-windows-i386'
Also copy out the directory and all its contents and zip the copy and upload for me somewhere to access the zip
For sample file - it might be better to look at this which crashed at about 4% down the file E:\Videos\Recorded TV\MacGyver (1985)\Season 07\MacGyver (1985) - S07E14 - The Mountain of Youth.ts
Please look for this dmp file : PlexTranscoder.DMP file for this crash would have a timestamp around 11:46:40 am
and then use dd.exe to create a .ts file from this file MacGyver (1985) - S07E14 - The Mountain of Youth.ts selecting 5% of the file - or 100Mb whichever is bigger.
dd if="E:\Videos\Recorded TV\MacGyver (1985)\Season 07\MacGyver (1985) - S07E14 - The Mountain of Youth.ts" of="Path to clip\clip.ts" bs=1M count=xxx
where xxx is the number of megabytes for the clip
So for example of the episode ts file is 1Gb, then go for 100 (the minimum size)
If the ts file is 2Gb, go for 110
But I would need confirmation that the clip does crash when bif preview thumbnail generation is done - so please add it to library and see what happens to the transcoder - and get me the dmp / logs for that run as well as the clip
