Recently switched to Plex w/ Silicondust HDHR Flex 4K. I have set ~15 series to record in the DVR and noticed that for 2 of the shows it always seems to exceed the 5 episode limit I set in the advanced settings. I have tried to delete and reset the recording and also tried to limit to a different number, but those 2 shows always seem to have more than the limit. I have seen other posts from people saying the “Keep” setting is not working for them either. One factor is that those 2 specific shows have multiple episodes every day. After some researching, I am wondering is the episode limit enforced when a new episode is being added/recorded (and the excess shows deleted at that time)? Or is the episode limit enforced during the maintenance time window (which i have as 02:00-05:00 am)? If its the later then it makes sense that the DVR hasn’t yet deleted the excess shows when I view the DVR during the day. If its the former then it does appear to be a bug. Anyone know?
So I investigated this a bit further and I’m pretty sure this is what is happening: “episode limit enforced during the maintenance time window”. I had both series exceeding my set limit of 5 episodes before I went to bed (one was at 6 and other was at 8 episodes). Checked early AM and noticed both were now at the set limit of 5. So this might explain some of the other posts I’ve seen about the episode limit setting not working.
