Errors - SSDP Error parsing device schema

Hi,

I’ve tried searching for a solution to the problem and the only replies I can find are “ignore it”. Which I’m not really happy with settling with as if there is an error it should be fixed and if its not really an error then it should be removed as one.

The problem relates to a continuous dump of prints which outline an error to do with SSDP. I’ve attached a snippet of this spam below for referencing. If there is anything else I could add to help discover the source of the problem please let me know.

Many Thanks

It’s typically a Unifi controller or another device which sends a partial, incomplete or custom response to SSDP.

Nothing Plex can do about it.

Well that’s still good to know as I can look for that problem on my network and try and sort it. From my log a large number of IPs are reporting the issue, so would I be correct in assuming the issue might come from my router?

I don’t Know what a Unifi controller is, but I’ll have a google now and see if I can better pin point the source.

Okay I’ve located the devices which are causing this issue, it relates to the Sky boxes I have on my network. I have a main Sky Q box and two Sky Q mini boxes. I’ve confirmed this by also turning all three devices off and the errors instantly stopped on my Plex server.

These devices appear to have some history in relation to “SSDP Packet Flooding” which I will assume is related to the problem Im seeing within Plex. Link to what I’ve found:
https://community.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Sky-Q-v3-Q160-SSDP-Packet-Flooding/td-p/3734920

Annoyingly from what I can see, there is no fix on the Sky box end. I guess I’ll have to keep digging unless anyone can think of a great way of fixing the problem for these devices? Uunplugging them isn’t an answer I’m looking for haha. My router is running PFSense so the options I have should be pretty large, I just need help finding the right one, if there is one

I have this issue as well. It seems to be with two devices. The first is my Netgear R7000P router that I am using as a switch (not the main router). The second one is really weird as it’s trying to connect to a private IP that isn’t in my network:

ERROR - SSDP: Error parsing device schema for http://169.254.189.23:50755

My network uses 192.168.1.*

For the moment I put what I consider a placeholder measure in place to stop my Plex Media server from being hit with this spam.

For me Plex runs on a Synology NAS and the devices causing the issue have known static IPs. And so I have added a rule to my Synology firewall to BLOCK all traffic from those IPs. The result is no more errors like those in the original post on my Plex.

However, as I say this is placeholder as the rest of my network is still suffering as a result of this spam. My only fix for this is to create a VLAN, but to do this I need to invest in some additional hardware, I.E. managed switches.

Yeah - I get the same error repeated continually in console and also it is the IP of my Sky+HD box.
