I format my folders to article formatting “Movie, The” to make them easier to sort so I don’t get hundreds of movies beginning with “T”.
For example:
Shining, The
Circle, The
Golden Child, The
Most of the time plex doesn’t match these and I need to amend the search to remove “the” from the title. Can you please add this formatting pattern to make matches for these movies work?
Its not about what Plex does, its about the folder structure on the file system. I personally do not want “The Movie” because its harder to mange the files not Plex. Its a common format that other applications use. Kodi works fine with it.
Such an addition would not affect Plex or existing users personal preferences on folder structures or naming.
But Plex does not and Plex is NOT Kodi (Thank goodness) and I very much doubt they will add this as a feature just for the use of the extremely few folks that want to use it that way.
It seems like you have a choice that we all face at one time or another. Do it the Plex way or take the highway.
Plex has poor customer service but, in this case, I do not believe Plex should spend their time fixing what is not broken.
I’m with you on this.
I did have a spell of Article last. I quickly realised how much Plex didn’t like it and changed back.
My life wasn’t really running afterwards.
Regarding the actual feature request. It’s not a large change, it is a small improvement, time consumption wouldn’t be much.
I have quite a large library, “more than most, less than some”. I just did a quick find and its over 320, just for article naming. It’s very much a personal preference thing regarding file management. I won’t be renaming all folders at this point and will prefer keeping it the way it is and continually fix matches.
