I think someone asked this before, and the answer was no, not with the AppleTV. But I was just checking some of the movies in the store under the normal movies app, and noticed the movie The Impossible was listed as one of the top rentals/purchases right now. I was curious why, since it's been out a while. I assume it was on sale. Anyway, when I clicked on the movie, this (check attachment) came up on what would be the equivalent of the pre-play screen on the Trailers app.
Is there a way that this sort of artwork can be included in the Trailers app as well? I just hadn't seen any movie like that before. I just checked, and most don't. The Heat (Sandra Bullock flick) also has background art like that as well.
Just curious.
Edit: Seems the image is upside down for some reason. Anyway, you get the idea.
I also think it's using the same mechanism that iTunes uses for the color of the text. For The Impossible, all the labels are colored in Orange, somewhat matching the color scheme of the artwork. The Heat, which has a heavy red color in the artwork, has red colored labels. Interesting...
Has anyone else seen this before? I would think it's fairly new, and studios are starting to add appropriate artwork?
That type of background has been showing up for select iTunes movies since the day before the last apple event. Pacific Rim has it I believe amongst others.

Yeah, I've noticed some others since I spotted those first couple. It would be nice if PlexConnect could do something similar.
Check out the PrePlay Screen for “Man of Steel”. It looks like they changed the design again (unless it is one-off). The background image begins just to the right of the movie poster. Looks better I think.

It's tough to tell, but it looks to me like the image takes up the entire top and the fading is in the image.
I edited the MoviePrePlay.xml template to play with the image header, but it doesn't look very promising.
I replaced the tag with and then added:
#ff0000
#00ff00
{{IMAGEURL(Video/thumb::768)}}
The result looked like this
I tried to use Video/art, but I couldn't get things to show up right.
Something to notice is the title is gone from the top so the title of the movie would probably have to be in whatever picture is put up there or things would look funny.
what happens if u point it to the fan art instead of the cover art?
I couldn't get it to show up. It looked like it was drawing everything off the left side of my screen. The same thing happened when I tried to scale the poster art to anything but 768. I'll play around with it a bit more maybe.
