Another request exists with a similar idea, maybe those two requests could be consolidated. Daily Limits / Max Plays per User
With Comcast/Xfinity instituting monthly data caps nationwide, this feature is needed more now than ever. I would love to limit the timeframe of some users, while giving other 24/7 access. It would also be nice to have the option to lift the time restriction for some users, for a certain period of time, for extenuating circumstances.
Thanks!
+1 for this as well
I wonder if plex developers can use their shared library settings for users so you set the time and date and it will enable and disable the shared library folders e.g. in profile > users and sharing > friends > shared library > tick / untick shared folders
This would be handy - I’m surprised Netflix/Amazon Video haven’t done it yet, surely it would save bandwidth and their costs?
How is the status of this feature?
I like to restrict streaming from 2:00 - 12:00
I’d love this feature too
This is so needed, along with time limits for max daily limits. I would love if I could give me kids x hours and then their accounts lock out.
I have plex pass, but it seems incredible that all these control options are not already implemented. Please implement this feature as most of us use plex to have control over what’s watched in our homes and not having this hinders the control we have over our kids watching schedules.
+1
Although my kids are grown, I need this feature because my Plex server is on my work NAS/Network (self-employed) and therefor I don’t want anyone trying to stream or download between 7am and 6pm as I need all the bandwidth (NAS and Network) for myself ![]()
Add this and I’ll sign up for Plex Pass.
Definitely would love to see time limit controls for younger users. Plex is great, but there are other things for kids to do other than passively consume content. Looks like this feature has been suggested over 7 years ago, any progress?
Why aren’t more people interested in this? It would be so useful. Emby has it, and Jellyfin has it. Plus most tv’s and streamers still lack the functionality to restrict screen time.
Deffo a must have.
Just saw my 13 year old neice watching TV at 00:50. Dont think her dad would be happy!
Surely in this day and age this is easily coded?
Perplexed at Plex’s aparent lack of interest in this thread.
Is this feature not implemented? it is an absolute game changer when will it be developed?
::insert spongebob time card here:: ONE ETERNITY LATER
It’s been 15 months since the last comment on this thread and there is still no time schedule restrictions built into Plex.
For sure. As a new lifetime member I was shocked that this isn’t something I can do already. Can we please get this implemented?
I would also very much like this options. I have 3 kids and they are on the TV all the time.
+1 (limit 15 min daily use - consumption based/accounting)
+1 (time of the day use)
even 2x +1 won’t count if you don’t vote at the top of the thread ![]()
+1 any movement on this?
I have not looked into what OS’s this can be run on, but you may wish to check it out.
This works with Tautulli
