The Sonos app has the ability to browse by Artist and Album but not Genre.
That would be very useful since I typically browse my collection by Genre > Artist > Album. Thanks for considering!

Hi, I agree totally.
I just installed a new My Cloud Home since WD is discontinuing the older WD mycloud devices. I used that older one as a NAS for my music library, and I have transferred all my songs to the new one. But it did not work as I hoped - adding the My Cloud Home as a service meant the artwork did not follow (that really sucks). Enabling Plex on My cloud home and adding Plex as a music service in Sonos works, minus the fact that sorting/seraching on genre is not possible. If this could be done in the add-in for plex for sonos, it would be so great. Inside Plex, I can already sort on genre.
The weird thing is that I do not seem to be able to map up the my cloud home as a NAS on Sonos, the way I could map the older drive. I have probably gotten something wrong.
Anyway, I support this idea completely!

And yes,
I suddenly noted that the post is from last year. Still maybe something to consider?

I’m not exactly sure if/how Plex can influence the library presentation in the Sonos app?!
Hello,
neither am I. I spent quite some time with the Sonos people and they referred me to Plex. I was going to ask everyone anyhow, but the Sonos support group could not help - they suggested that it is something with Plex. I do not know myself, I do not do the programming. But I noticed someone raising the same issue in December 2021, so I know I am not alone in wanting this.
I do realise that it is unclear just who can influence the presentation in sonos, but my time with them suggested that they cannot do a lot. So I guessed that someone from Plex might have provided some code for the functionality?

Sonos services are usually written by third parties rather than Sonos itself. I would be surprised if Plex did not write their service. Sonos Developer
The unavailability of sorting albums by genre within the Plex plugin for Sonos is a NoGo from my point of view. All similar services I have used before were able to do so. I have more than 1500 albums in my collection. Please tell me how to navigate through in Sonos without knowing each album name by heart?
Ok, my post was merged with this one. So I see that after 3 years nothing has happened. Before, I used the subsonic service in Sonos and it is able to sort by genre, so it has nothing to do with Sonos. It is obvisously the ignorance of Plex. I now removed Plex from Sonos and returned to Subsonic. Be sure this was the first and last time I paid for the Plex Pass. Waste of money.
I too used Subsonic, and am very angry that the folks at Plex (who charge a lot more than Subsonic ever did) are unwilling to add support for search-by-genre to their Sonos plugin. I uninstalled Subsonic because it suddenly stopped working, and the developers have apparently abandoned the project so I was unable to get any support. Please, Plex folks, fix this. We’re talking about a few days of effort, at most !
