I’m trying to find a decent music player for Apple-TV. One of my requirements is to be able to play by Genre (something I have been doing since I started my mp3 library last century).
In other Plex clients, this is pretty easily done with a smart playlist. However, the apple-TV client doesn’t seem to support playlists at all. I’m not sure if there is some fundamental reason for that, but I would like to request that the feature be added.
(hope I am going about a feature request the right way, feel free to point me in a better direction if not…)
Playlists seem to be working for me on my Apple TV – same as on other clients.
They’re accessible through the Playlists entry in the sidebar or the Playlists tab on individual libraries.
In addition you can directly filter your music libraries by genre if they’re displayed by album or artist.
However, the Apple TV client doesn’t have an option to create or edit smart collections/playlists if that’s what you’re aiming for.
Thanks @tom80H . I was in my library and saw that the “create playlist” feature was missing, but you are quite right when I went back to the main menu, I could see the playlists category, and then the playlists I created elsewhere.
So, simple solution for me, as suggested - just go create the playlists on my computer, and then they are visible. Probably way easier than creating a playlist through the Apple-TV interface anyway.
