What I would like is an option (dirty word?) in Edit Library that could be set to allow/disallow media deletion for that library. Default would of course be set to disallow.
Previously, I made sure “allow clients to delete media” or “allow media deletions” was turned off - that thing scared me. My thoughts being that if I didn’t want it my library, I would not have ripped it, encoded it and put in my library to begin - deleting my media through Plex wasn’t something I was interesting in, but things change. Incorporating Plex DVR into my setup, I will end up with media I haven’t put any effort in and probably won’t want to keep. Recorded media goes into separate libraries and I would like to use Plex (web app only) to delete the media that has been recorded using the DVR feature, but not my own media. Now, I do use Plex Home and the only client that gets logged in as the owner is the laptop I use to manage the server. I do have backups of all my media but I’m still left with an uneasy feeling with enabling “Allow media deletion”. Ayup, Plex does give warning before deletion, but I’m a real scaredy–cat when it comes to deleting my own media.
If this has already been requested, just slap me upside the head, but kindly point me to it - I don’t remember seeing anything.
