Feature Request: Display album cover art for current track in playlists

Further description:

When I am using Plex to listen to music on my playlist at work, it only displays the main playlist picture and the first several tracks. Only the mini player at the bottom of the screen changes, but it would be nice to be able to look over and see at a glance which artist and track is playing on the main screen.

I used Plex for Movies and TV for a long time before actually using it for music- but now I’m really enjoying it. There are a lot of strategies for making the screen more dynamic when playing music, and it would be nice to see something change every few minutes. My personal vote would be to have the track list, cover art and background for the album of the track playing pop up, but I’d like anything that just adds a little visual interest.

Amarok has a lot of interesting features that might work as inspiration as well- it was always kind of nice to see the Wikipedia page for the band, guitar tabs for the song or lyrics pop up.

Anyhow- nice job overall. I love the whole package, and will keep subscribing as long as you keep offering the Plex Pass. The tour dates on the Premium music folder are just awesome- something I never knew I wanted until you put it in there!

Thanks!

Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (players display the cover of the currently playing track; the poster of the playlist itself does however not change – I suppose that’s what you were still looking at)
