Feature Request: File Manager

Built in file manager for maintenance of files from within Plex server to perform functions such as Move, Copy and Delete to name a few. Im throwing this feature out because no one requested it yet. It’s something that Plex media server is missing a file manager. Kodi has it why can’t Plex have it?

I’m wondering though if I want to expose the actual files this way… at the moment an attacker could at worst watch my media and nuke my libraries (except I allow Plex to delete files) – they cannot however (easily) mess with my media. But that’s just my 2ct

i got your point that whoever get access to your account controls your plex server and could do the worst things to your files, but there are ways to prevent unwanted access especially if youre the owner of the plex servers.

  1. the two-step verification is a requirement of this feature and must be use. plex owners

  2. this feature is disable default so its not active to every server who runs plex. and plex devs could put a special setting to activate this feature --only accessable locally. it can not be enable remotely.

  3. idk how plex owners create passwords for their accounts. but my accounts for my servers are usually like on these formats.

idk how anyone could steal my password. sets of 8digits or 12 digits or 16 digits password like the one above. unless they phish my password but i always make sure the site im entering my username and password are the site im accessing. i dont fall easily with email phishing because i always triple check.
