[Feature Request] Filter and/or search by language

Hi,

We recently set up a Plex server to host the school’s DVD-library on the local network and are testing this for possible roll-out in the entire county. It’s working great so far, except for a couple of issues:

The teachers would like to be able to search or filter the movies by the spoken language. For instance, a Spanish teacher would like to have a filter for all the movies with Spanish audio or simply be able to type “spanish” in the search box. We are aware that you can filter by country of origin, but this is not sufficient. Spanish being a good example for this as well, what with the 20 or so countries with Spanish as an official language.

It is also an issue that you cannot search for titles in any other language than the localized one. For instance there is no way to search for the original title of a foreign movie even though that information already exists in the metadata. We are in Norway, and most of our library consists of English and Norwegian movies, with some that are German, French and Spanish. But we can only choose one of those languages to search for all of these movies in. This creates issues for a multilingual movie library and makes it very difficult for the staff to use.

We hope this will be added as a feature soon.

half-duplicate request.
a language filter has already been requested.

the search box already searches the original title now.

what’s left is an improvement of the search function.
I agree, this leaves much to be desired.
Although an improvement of the search function has also been requested many times already.
