[Feature Request] Have Plex support importing playlists with .m3u files.

Hi,

A .m3u file is just a file listing a series of songs, videos, etc on a computer. It’s been a standard for handling playlists for a while.

The feature I would like is simple. Either I can upload a .m3u through the web interface for Plex and it read the file and create a playlist based on what it says, or I can dump the file into a Playlists folder under the correct library for Plex and it will scan, see it, and act accordingly.

I’m actually very surprised Plex doesn’t support this, and (As far as I can tell) only allows playlist importing through iTunes. It seems like a very simple thing.

Anyway, I and I’m sure many others have kept up with .m3u files over the years building large music playlists that would take quite a while to rebuild in Plex manually. iTunes does support importing .m3u files, but that’s not really the point.

Thank you for reading this,
Payden.

For reference, here is an example .m3u file:
#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:123, Sample artist - Sample title
C:\Documents and Settings\I\My Music\Sample.mp3

#EXTINF:321,Example Artist - Example title
C:\Documents and Settings\I\My Music\Greatest Hits\Example.ogg

You can create the above files with Winamp and other programs.
