I think an extremely useful feature would be having a way people can report issues, or make requests.
I have over 5000 video files and 20,000 music files, I don't have time to go though all the corrupt or damaged ones.
Which annoys me to no end that I'd get half a dozen text's a day from people i've shared my library with saying stuff is not working or cuts off, or is just rubbish quality.
So to stop that I created a website they can report stuff to me, but if it was integrated with Plex it would be amazing.
So there should be a way that they can report problems, from the menu of the app just have a report problem button. Maybe offer a few suggestions as to what the problem is, and/or have a text field they can type a message for me.
Then I can get notified by email that there is a problem, as well as having a loving pending problems page on Plex/Web, which I can update once I have corrected the problem, that will auto reply to the sender that its all sorted now.
A Request option would be awesome to. Pretty much the same idea, but people can request films / TV Shows they want me to add.
I have hundreds of texts from my brother telling me what to get next.
I think this is well beyond the mainstream use of Plex. Suggesting that your lack of maintenance on a moderately large content library is a downfall of Plex is a stretch, in my opinion. Since your use of Plex is well beyond normal (by the number of users sharing your content), it makes sense that you handled this with an appropriate solution outside of Plex.
Disagree with agregjones…when creating content, I don’t always have the time to make sure that subtitles appear when they need to, etc…also, due to RIAA (or whoever) hacks, music files have been known to turn up corrupt. I like this idea and would love to use it…aaaand this post is from 2013…lol. Let the dead rise.
These can do everything you want, even integrating the requests with the download managers Sonarr, SickBeard/Rage and CouchPotato. The first one supports music with Headphones.
I also would like this feature. I don’t even care if it’s a single button to just flag it to be looked at.
Sometimes it’s me finding a problem while I’m not near my computer to fix it. Sometimes it’s my wife or kids who then forget to tell me.
Bring this back from the dead, please, or please offer a method for devs to extend this functionality if they wanted to. Thanks.
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
Therefore this one is closed.
Votes are given back to the users who voted on this request. Please think of re-voting in the other thread if you still want it.
Please search before creating a new suggestion thread.
Only one feature per thread.
