Absolutely +1. This is the most lacking feature of Plex at the moment.
Any progress on that?
I’d like to add my +1 to this. I’m new to Plex and started backing up my DVD collection to my NAS the other day. I did the “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” special edition. It has 4 English tracks, 3 of which are just named “English stereo” in the UI. One is the original mono, and the other 2 are commentary tracks. It would be nice to be able to select the track you want without trial and error. There’s also 3 different alternate English subtitle tracks: regular English, screenplay, and “subtitles for people who don’t like the movie” with text from Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part II. Again, they all just say English VOBSUB in the UI. I tried changing names and metadata settings in MakeMKV and remuxing, but no joy.
+1
Would be great to have this for any thing that has multiple subtitles in the same language for things like signs and karaoke as opposed to the dialogue.
+1, This is must have
Why is this not here? It would be so easy to add. Please, take the time to do this, guys!
This would be a really good feature to add, I have a couple of movies with directors and screenwriters commentary accompanied with two different subtitle tracks for two languages. It’s really messy to find the right combination at the time.
If you add this feature I’d still like to propose to keep the language of the track within the shown name i.e.
“Commentary, Ridley Scott [English]” where English is the track language of the subtitle.
Best Regards,
Sebastian

there’s plenty of feature requests like this.
I can’t understand why it’s not supported yet.
it’ll be much better if some pre-defined tags are implemented, like the naming convention of external subtitle language.
Another +1 for this feature.
Bump. Guessing which of multiple tracks is the one you want is an inferior method to seeing the named track and selecting it straightaway.
Massive +1
+1000
wow… Still nothing on that since 2014 !!! …
Come on Plex… We need this!!
This is needed so badly…+1
Any word on if this is being worked on?
Still the absolute worst part of an amazing program.
+1
This is the one big feature I’m missing; I love commentaries, but they’re confusing to select without proper naming.
It is pretty ridiculous a software so complete as Plex lacks this feature present in aboslutely every single media player.
+1, this is something really missing from plex and it would make life much easier to people that have files with multiple audio tracks
I can’t imagine why something this simple (show a value that’s already loaded in the metadata) hasn’t been done for 4 years
+1 please implement this
+1 - Please Implement this feature. So frustrating spending the time to properly name the media subtitle tracks and then have Plex just show them all as ‘English-PGS’. Thanks!
