I’m building a custom Plex metadata agent + scanner for NFL games. The library is a TV show (“NFL”) with seasons by year and Week folders (Week 01, Week 02, …). My agent can attach posters to each week, but Plex doesn’t surface episode‑level collections inside TV shows, so there’s no way to display Week tiles in the UI.
Request: add season‑level collections (or a native “season group” type) that can appear within a season and allow posters/metadata. This would enable sports libraries (NFL, NBA, etc.) to display weekly groupings with customartwork without creating separate shows per year or using playlists.
Here is a mockup - The agent is about 70% compete. the metadate is 100% in a cusom library.. This agent resolves NFL games by date and city, then enriches Plex episodes with summaries, scores, broadcast info, announcers, and PFR stats via a custom API.
I can see where a lot of people would like this, and at some point, a while back I would have too. I’m so backed up on my watchlist that I can never catch up on all the things that come out in a week. I’m still working on last years seasons, lol!
Well, this agent works really well but the NFL and it takes seconds to organized a full libray - the problem so there are 496 games per season, and if you can orgnize them by the week, it’s just messy.
Oh yeah, I can imagine so, given the various days they play, flex schedules, etc. I’m not so die-hard that I have to watch all games. I typically don’t watch until the games are over and only if my fave teams win, lol. So much less stress!
Just trying to clarify… given you can already have collections of seasons and episodes. What you’re asking for is an option to list such episode collections as an additional organizational tier in your season?

2025 <- season
All Episodes <- current episode list
Team hub <- (smart) collections of all episodes grouped by team (home/guest)
Though, that additional tier / collection should probably only show within the show / season – not the library’s Collections tab?
Yes, I want a season‑internal grouping layer (Week tiles / team hubs) visible only within that show/season. It shouldn’t clutter the library Collections tab.
